African Tuareg Leather Pouf/Ottoman/Footstool Antique Red Yellow Blue Turquoise
Hand painted and sewn in Niger, this antique leather pouf has traditionally been used as a footstool, ottoman and as a cushion. Colors of red, yellow, blue, burgundy, green and turquoise accentuate the intricate work and design on this traditional pouf. It was customary to use papers and other local fibers to fill this pouf through the 14" long zippered opening on the blue underside of the cushion. The papers seem to make a more firm cushion that doesn't sink when you sit.
There are two leather handles for carrying (one on each side).
This pouf is semi-filled with newspaper and bags as shown in the photos.
