Vintage Maasai Beaded Milk Gourd With Leather
Handmade in Kenya, this beaded gourd was traditionally used to carry a mixture of milk and blood as sustenance for the Maasai herdsmen. The leather is added to the gourd for carrying, and the beads are to personalize each gourd.
The standing gourd is placed on a banana leaf ring from Kenya as shown above.
Fairly good condition, shows signs of aging and use. The condition is very much as shown in the photo.
Approximate date is mid-20th century.
