African Pillow Hand Painted Falling Leaves Pink Silver Black 19" X 19"
African Tribal Pillow Falling Silver Leaves On Muted Pink and Black Painted Geometric Frame in Silver and Black with Repeated Pink Border. Handmade in South Africa by a Xhosa tribal artist. The back is solid black cotton with an envelope opening for placing a pillow insert.
This one of a kind vintage, artisan made textile shows how the artist sees the elegance of the falling leaves, which she adds to much of her art, even when it represents an African animal.
The fabric is 100% cotton, but it's difficult to tell that it's only cotton because of the layers of paint and the method these textiles are made using porridge and other traditional organics in a way that some countries use wax.
While in South Africa, I found that all of the artisans I met who made tablecloths or tapestries, also made matching pillows/cushion covers. You will see some the tablecloths in the Dining Section of this shop.
