Apron Animal African Safari Elephant Zebra South Africa
Hand Painted in South Africa, this Vintage 100% Cotton Apron is a wearable work of art, and can still be machine washed. The scene of the elephants and zebra at the watering hole in the brush is a typical one that I have enjoyed seeing while in South Africa.
I purchased these aprons from a women's church group in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa during my travels while making Fair Trade purchases. You will also see tablecloths and wall hangings in my shop and will recognize the same distinctive work. The members of the group are Zulu and Ndebele and the use of their vivid color palette are evident in these colorful aprons. They look just as great framed as worn.
Due to the black background, it's difficult in these photos to see the black loop to place over your head on this pinafore style apron and the very long ties on each side of this pinafore style apron.
If you haven't read much about my shop, this is a reminder that during my travels and living in Africa, I have purchased many items over the years and have not always had them for sale as they were purchased to assist families, artisans and women's groups, I bought in great quantity therefore, I have a warehouse filled with beautiful art and textiles, which is why although many of the items were purchased over 20 years ago, they have been in boxes and are in brand new condition. Those items that I currently purchase are not shown on this website.
