African Okou Stool Ceremonial Prestige Handcrafted Cameroon
This Vintage Okou Stool was hand carved by a tribal Okou artist in Cameroon. This columnar stool with thick sculptured legs made of local wood in Cameroon, is another example of the detailed and intricate work of the carvers in Cameroon. It is very sturdy and used for sitting or as a headrest. the center is scooped out for a perfect ergonomic fit. Many of the African stools are made to fit the body comfortably.
The power and position of chiefs and kings were often exhibited in the quality of their prestige items, such as this stool, during special ceremonial events.
