Kuba Belt/Headdress Antique Congo D.R.C. Black White Red
This antique Royal Kuba Belt Headdress was handcrafted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and it is a late 19th to early 20th century. This royal belt/headdress is to be placed on the body or forehead and tied in the back.
The belt/headdress is made starting with a base of tightly woven raffia, cowrie shells and beads are intricately woven onto the base in traditional patterns and designs. Cowrie Shells are placed on the red and brown background made of raffia and red cotton with intricate knotting between each shell and knotted raffia extensions for tying on the body or head.
