This vintage batik is handmade in Zimbabwe using traditional natural dyes and fabrics bringing elements of the earth as well as, guinea fowl, fish, turtle and tribal design symbols. This batik in colors of chestnut, blue/black, gold, sienna and sand, is bordered with charcoal over sand colored design and sand fringe at the bottom and top.

100% cotton batik is called back weave a thick, handwoven fabric that is similar to mud cloth with a tighter finer weave and lighter weight.

The symbols and images throughout the traditional Zimbabwe Batik, show the individual artist's perception of art and nature in their environment.

Handwoven and hand painted batik has all the elements of a handmade item which makes it perfectly unique rather than the "perfection" of machine made.
